Ramis (right) has been an important part of Real Mallorca's campaign
Celtic appear to have given up on their efforts to sign Real Mallorca defender Ivan Ramis.
The 25-year-old's agent, Javier Diaz, had told BBC Scotland that the clubs were continuing negotiations on Sunday.
But Celtic sources said that the signing of Tottenham striker Robbie Keane would be their last deal in the current transfer window.
The Spanish club were understood to be looking for almost £3m for Ramis, who has been a regular in their first-team.
Diaz had said that the player was interested in joining Tony Mowbray's side if the clubs could agree a fee.
Celtic had sold Gary Caldwell to Wigan Athletic and allowed his former partner in central defence, Stephen McManus, to join Middlesbrough on loan during January.
Mowbray added Jos Hooiveld from AIK Stockholm and Thomas Rogne from Stabaek during January, but the Celtic manager has until midnight on Monday should he wish to further bolster his squad before the transfer window closes.
Ramis was not in the Real Mallorca squad for Sunday's game against Xerez as a result of an arm injury sustained recently against Espanyol.
But, having come through the ranks at the club, Ramis has been an important part of Mallorca's season, helping them to fourth place in the Primera Liga.
Ramis, who had a loan spell with Valladolid in 2005, represented his country at Under-19, Under-21 and Under-23 level.
