Mowbray says he has received no calls inquiring about three of his players

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray has denied rumours linking striker Scott McDonald with a move away from the Glasgow club.

Captain Stephen McManus was recently linked to an Ipswich loan, while Scott Brown and Aiden McGeady have also been the subject of transfer speculation.

"Two weeks ago, it was Scott Brown off for £12m, last week it was Aiden McGeady, this week it's Scott McDonald," Mowbray told BBC Scotland.

"I've never had calls on these players, yet it fills somebody's newspapers."

McDonald was linked with Wigan Athletic, McGeady and Brown with Tottenham Hotspur, while Everton were also reported to the interested in the latter.

Midfielder Massimo Donati is the most recent player to leave Celtic after agreeing a four-year deal to return to his homeland with Italian side Bari.

However, Mowbray suggested that any income derived from Donati's move would not necessarily be made available to him to bolster his squad before the summer transfer window closes on Tuesday afternoon.

"The club are looking to get a few quid back in, so the money is not openly there to go and spend," said Mowbray after the 1-0 victory over Hibernian.

"But there are one or two things happening behind the scenes that we might be able to help the squad with.

"I take very little notice of rumours. I've stipulated that I don't read the papers, but I sat at the breakfast table this morning and saw my assistant manager reading the papers and I saw a few headlines.

"It's literally water off a duck's back to me."
