Celtic played Rapid Vienna in 1986, but the tie was replayed at Old Trafford
Celtic have been handed a tricky draw in the inaugural group stages of the Europa League, up against Hamburg, Hapoel Tel-Aviv and Rapid Vienna.
Here, BBC Sport profiles the Glasgow club's opponents.
HAMBURG
How they got here: Finished fifth in the Bundesliga last season and thrashed Guingamp 8-2 in the Europa League group stage play-off.
Nickname: Rothosen ("Red Shorts")
Stadium: HSH Nordbank Arena. (Capacity: 57,274)
Hamburg beat Celtic 4-0 on aggregate in their last European encounter
Star man: Peru international Jose Paolo Guerrero Gonzales, who has scored 24 times in 82 games for the German outfit after joining them from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich. Was suspended by Fifa for six matches once for insulting a referee and refused to celebrate a crucial goal scored against Bayern out of respect for his former team.
European pedigree: European Cup winners in 1982-83 and runners-up in 1979-80. European Cup-Winners' Cup winners in 1976-77 and runners-up in 1967-68. Uefa Cup runners-up in 1982. European Super Cup runners-up in 1977 and 1983. Intertoto Cup winners in 2005 and 2007.
Previous meetings: Uefa Cup 1996 -0-2, 0-2
Good trip? The sixth-largest city in Europe, located in the north of Germany and a major tourist hot-spot.
The city contains more than 2,300 bridges crossing its many canals and rivers and is also known for its culture in music, arts and theatre.
Travelling Celtic fans shouldn't find too much difficulty asking for a beer in the city's numerous bars as Hamburg has many English-speaking communities.
Flights are frequent from several British cities, including Glasgow, but don't expect them to be cheap.
Transport is also abundant in the city, with trains, buses and taxis all running with typical German efficiency.
Hapoel Tel-Aviv
How they got here: Finished second in the Israeli Premier League and eliminated Gothenburg and Teplice in the Europa League qualifiers and group stage play-off.
Star man: Ghanian international forward Samuel Yeboah has been making waves in recent years, attracting interest from CSKA Moscow and Birmingham City. He signed for Hapoel in 2008 on a five-year deal and has netted 15 goals in 30 matches.
Lubmoir Moravcik played in Celtic's last encounter with Hapoel Tel-Aviv
European pedigree: Regular participants in the Uefa Cup but have never made it to the group stages of the Champions League. Reached the quarter-finals of the Uefa Cup in 2001-2002, eliminating Chelsea, Lokomotiv Moscow and Parma before losing out to AC Milan.
Previous meetings: Uefa Cup in 1999-2000 - 1-0, 2-0.
Good trip? The second-largest city in Israel, home to 3.1m people and the administrative hub of Israel's economy.
Temperatures in September can reach 90 degrees and Tel-Aviv is known for it's non-stop lifestyle, with many of its clubs, bars and restaurants open 24 hours a day.
Transportation around the city is abundant, although cheap flights from Glasgow might be harder for Celtic fans to find.
RAPID VIENNA
How they got here: Finished second in the Austrian Bundesliga and eliminated Aston Villa in the Europa League group stage play-off.
Nickname: Die Grun-Weiben (The Green and Whites).
Stadium: Gerhard Hanappi Stadium. (Capacity: 18,400)
The Rapid Vienna fans tend to watch matches with no shirts on
Star man: Austrian striker Stefan Maierhofer, who initially trained to be a chef but eventually reached prominence as a member of Bayern Munich's reserve side. He joined Rapid on-loan from Greuther Furth in 2008, helping Rapid win the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring seven goals in 11 matches.
European pedigree: European Cup Winners' Cup runners-up - 1985, 1996. Intertoto Cup winners - 1992, 1993.
Previous meetings: European Cup Winners' Cup 1986: 1-3, 3-0 (tie voided), 0-1.
Good trip? The capital city of Austria and the home of Mozart. However, don't expect the sweet sound of music when the teams meet.
The Rapid fans are known for their boisterous behaviour and there's a lot of bad feeling between the clubs following their meeting in the 1986 European Cup-Winners' Cup when the second leg of the tie had to be replayed at Old Trafford due to a bottle being thrown on to the pitch at Celtic Park.
Vienna itself is a vast city with a cultural heritage spanning theatre, opera, classical music and fine arts.
The city also boasts a large brewery, the Ottakringer and more than 10 microbreweries. Direct flights operate from Glasgow but will be expensive, as will accommodation, alcohol and cuisine.
