Mowbray hails Celtic's progress

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray
Mowbray said his Celtic side controlled the game in Moscow

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray heaped praise on his side after their dramatic 2-0 Champions League qualifying victory over Dinamo Moscow.

"Over the two 90 minutes I think the better team came through the tie," Mowbray told BBC Scotland.

"We controlled the game for long spells and got our rewards in the end.

"I always believed we would score, but nobody is getting carried away. We've got a lot of hard work ahead of us. We have got to keep going."

Celtic's 2-0 win in Moscow gave them a 2-1 aggregate victory and also secured the club's first away win in the Champions League since 2003.

Celtic deserved to progress - Mowbray

Mowbray, in his second competitive game in charge of the club, added: "We came here (Moscow) trying to be positive and believing we had better players than them.

"We tried to control the football match and I think we managed to do that.

"There wasn't a host of chances at either end, but I think we deserved to win the game."

Victory sees Celtic progress to the final qualifying round of the Champions League, where they could face Arsenal, Panathaniakos, Lyon, Stuttgart or Fiorentina.

Samaras excited after 'difficult' match

And Mowbray said he would love to guide Celtic to the group stages of the competition.

"The club have been there over the last few years and done exceptionally well in it," he added.

"The aim is to try to emulate that and surpass it, but it's early days and no-one is getting carried away."
