Brown was booked for a challenge on Falkirk's Tam Scobbie
Celtic manager Gordon Strachan says it is unfair that Scott Brown's upcoming two-match suspension is in part due to bookings he received last season.
The midfielder's yellow card for a foul on Tam Scobbie in Wednesday's 4-0 win over Falkirk saw him exceed the 18-point disciplinary threshold.
Brown, 23, could miss the next Old Firm game after the SPL split.
"To get punished for things that happened years ago is hard to take," said Strachan.
Brown will be available for Saturday's match against Hearts at Tynecastle's as his suspension does not begin until 14 days after exceeding the disciplinary points threshold.

However, he will miss two games after the SPL split, which could include the as yet unscheduled match against Rangers at Ibrox.
Strachan feels the former Hibernian player, who was booked 14 times last season, is being harshly punished.
"His discipline has been good this year. That's the way it goes, that's life," said Strachan.
