Derek Riordan scored against Chicago during pre-season |
Celtic striker Derek Riordan will use the month of August to contemplate his future with the Scottish champions. The 24-year-old has struggled to pin down a regular first-team place since arriving from Hibernian last summer.
"I haven't spoken to the boss," said the Scotland international. "I will wait and see how it goes towards the end of the transfer window.
"I don't want to have the same season as I did last season obviously, so I will see what happens."
Riordan travelled with Celtic on their pre-season tour of the USA but played only 20 minutes, scoring the equaliser when he came on against MLS Chicago.
He played for the reserves in a 1-0 win over Airdrie United this week but was an unused substitute against Newcastle on Thursday.

"My goal this season is obviously to play," said the forward, who has been linked with a move to West Brom.
"That's the main thing, getting to play every week - and finish top goal scorer the same way I do every season.
"Pre-season has been quite tough, but the reserve game against Airdrie was another 90 minutes, which basically gets my fitness up."
Riordan will now wait to see if he is involved in the final friendly against Parma and the opening league games before deciding if he feels a part of manager Gordon Strachan's plans.
"The Celtic fans were brilliant with me last season," he said.
"They noticed that I never got a chance, so I hope to get a decent chance and take it when I do."
Meanwhile, Paris St Germain coach Paul Le Guen has refused to comment about a reported approach from Celtic for the French club's right-back, Bernard Mendy.
The 25-year-old has been quoted as saying he would welcome a transfer.
But, speaking in London today ahead of his new side's appearance in the Emirates Cup, the former Rangers manager was coy when asked if Celtic had made initial moves to clinch Mendy's signature.
"We are very happy that Bernard Mendy is still with us," was all Le Guen would say.
