Maloney will be able to talk to other clubs from January. |
Celtic striker Shaun Maloney has called off contract talks with the club, according to the Scottish champions' chief executive, Peter Lawell. Maloney, last season's SPFA player of the year, is out of contract at the end of the season and will be free to talk to other clubs in January.
Lawwell said: "Shaun's representatives have indicated they wish to suspend discussions until January.
"Shaun will then have the opportunity to look at other options."
The 23-year-old Maloney will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club when the January transfer window opens.

But Lawell is still hopeful an agreement can be reached.
"It would seem the reason for this is not financial," he said.
"This development is worrying. However, it should be clearly stated that Celtic are very keen to bring this matter to a successful conclusion.
"That would be one which sees Shaun extend his contract with the club."
