Pearson was earmarked for a move |
Stephen Pearson is delighted to remain with Celtic having been re-assured by manager Gordon Strachan that he is part of his future plans for the club. The 23-year-old midfielder had looked set for a move to Derby but has stayed put and even scored on his return to the first team at Inverness last week.
Pearson said: "There were a few things in the pipeline but the manager never wanted me to go which was nice to hear.
"I am happy to stay at Celtic because this is where I want to play."
Now Pearson is looking forward to involvement in the Champions League and glamour ties such as the first one at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
He said: "I have never played in the Champions League before so this will be my biggest ever game.
"We have a difficult group, but travel wise it could have been worse."
