Croatian Kranjcar is hoping for to play in the Champions League next season |
Celtic are hoping to land a pair of World Cup internationals shortly to bolster their squad prior to a domestic and Champions League campaign. According to The People, boss Gordon Strachan wants Croatian Niko Kranjcar, and Ecuador defender Ulises De la Cruz.
Free-scoring Hadjuk Split midfielder Kranjcar is rated at around 2m, and Aston Villa's De la Cruz 1m.
However, any moves for either will depend on whether Stilian Petrov gets his wish to leave the Glasgow club.
Portsmouth have made a 4m offer for the Bulgarian and those funds would then be utilised for the duo.
With Roy Keane retiring, Strachan is aware of the importance of bolstering his midfield area, and 22-year-old Kranjcar is seen to fit the bill.
And with left-back remaining a problem area for Celtic, De la Cruz, 32, has experience of Scottish football with a spell at Hibernian in 2001/02, prior to his Premiership move.
Both players featured in all their respective World Cup games, De la Cruz helping Ecuador into the Second Round, while Croatia were eliminated at the group stage.
