![]() | Monday, 1 October, 2001, 12:29 GMT 13:29 UK Goal of the Week ![]() Alan Thompson's brilliant late individual strike sealed Celtic's 2-0 Old Firm win against Rangers at Ibrox and is BBC Sport Online's Goal of the Week. Alan Thompson produced a moment of individual magic worthy of clinching any game to confirm Celtic's 2-0 win against Rangers at Ibrox. The game was still finely balanced as Celtic held on to a lead given to them by Stilian Petrov's first-half free-kick. Rangers had battled hard and were still in the hunt for a point, particularly after Stefan Klos saved Henrik Larsson's second-half penalty. But Thompson confirmed the three points for Martin O'Neill's side in the dying seconds. He picked up the ball on the left-hand touchline, and weaved his way inside, leaving three Rangers defenders in his wake, before sending a precise right foot finish beyond Klos. Celtic boss O'Neill said: "The game was on a knife-edge right until the final whistle - certainly until Thompson scored." | Other top Celtic stories: Links to more Celtic stories are at the foot of the page. | ||
