Ward accused his players of "feeling sorry for themselves"
Carlisle United manager John Ward says he will "keep working hard" to turn his team's fortunes around after Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at Hereford United.
Ward is facing calls for his dismissal from some sections of the Cumbrians' support following a run of six defeats in seven games.
Ward told BBC Radio Cumbria: "I'll take full responsibility for it. It's been going on for too long.
"I'm the one who can do something about it and I promise you that I will."
After four wins from their opening five league games, Carlisle have now taken just one point out of a possible 21 in League One - their worst run of form since 2003.
"I'm annoyed but no less annoyed than the supporters who travelled down here and the people back home," Ward said.
"As I say, I take full responsibility as the manager but they [the players] shouldn't hide behind me.
"We've all got to stand up and say what part should we be playing now?"
Andy Williams' 60th-minute goal gave Hereford only their second win of the season to leave Carlisle 15th in League One.
Ward continued: "It was agreed that we needed an extra five or 10% or more from everybody and we didn't see it. They did everything but that.
