Carlisle United striker Michael Bridges faces a wait to learn the extent of his hamstring injury.
The 30-year-old picked up the injury during the first half of the reserves' 2-2 draw against Morecambe at Christie Park on Wednesday night.
Blues manager John Ward told BBC Radio Cumbria: "We have to get him looked at first so we don't know the extent of the injury just yet.
"If we do lose him it will be a big disappointment for me and the player."
Bridges, who is on a season-long loan deal from Hull City, was substituted after 30 minutes of Wednesday night's game as goals from Richard Keogh and a Grant Smith penalty earned the club's second-string a point.
The last thing I or anyone else wants to see is this club slip into administration again
Carlisle boss John Ward
"Michael had just been saying that he was feeling good and his fitness was coming on so this will be a blow to him and the team," Ward said.
Ward is unlikely to move into the loan market for a replacement with Scott Dobie set to return following his three-game ban.
The Cumbrians boss has also defended his decision not to spend big during the transfer window.
"It doesn't necessarily mean that if you spend a lot of money then you get it right.
"We paid money for Cleveland Taylor back in January and we're happy with him. We pay money for Richard Keogh if he plays games. If he doesn't play a certain number of games, then we don't pay money for him, so that is a good deal.
"We are not a skinflint club but we try and do things sensibly. The last thing I or anyone else wants to see is this club slip into administration again."
