Carlisle manager John Ward said his side emerged from the season with plenty of credit, despite a semi-final League One play-off defeat by Leeds.

Carlisle let in a late goal and lost 2-0 at home in the second leg as they were defeated 3-2 on aggregate.

"I thought in the last 20 minutes of the whole match there were two very tired teams out there," said Ward.

"It's a shame we lost in terms of the season but there is a team here for the citizens of Carlisle to be proud of."
