Feature: Derek Lacey on 500 games
BBC Radio Cumbria reporter Derek Lacey will cover his 500th commentary match during Carlisle's trip to Swindon's County Ground on Saturday. Lacey has seen Carlisle through the best and worst of times but admitted it is seldom boring covering the club.
"Those of you that know Carlisle United know that we don't do mid-table," he told BBC Look North.
"Lately Carlisle United are on the up, and I can see them being a really solid League One side."
His first season on the mic took in the drama of goalkeeper Jimmy Glass' last-ditch winner which kept the Cumbrians in the Football League.
 | If we can get into the Championship, who knows? |
This season has been full of memories, notably the win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground and Lacey is excited about the future.
"If someone told me a few years ago we'd have a chance of going into Championship football, I'd have said they were mad," he said.
