Ward has taken Carlisle up to second in League One

Ward feels the Cumbrians are genuine promotion candidates but has ordered his players to make their challenge one step at a time.

Speaking to BBC Radio Cumbria he said: "All we can do is try to strive and work for a top six place.

"We're in a good position now and we've got to work hard to stay there."
