Carlisle midfielder Paul Thirlwell has taken a step closer to a first-team return with a 90-minute appearance for the reserves against Blackpool. Thirlwell appeared for the Cumbrians second string in their 2-2 draw against Blackpool on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old has been sidelined with a rupture of a muscle fibre.
Thirlwell has been out of action with the injury since being forced to come off in the game against Swansea City on 14 September.
