The 34-year-old joined the Cumbrians in November 2003 and made 44 league appearances last season.

Manager Paul Simpson told the club website: "Kev has agreed the terms of the contract and we expect him to sign the papers in the next 24 hours.

"I'm delighted because he has been a great leader both on and off the pitch and he is exactly the kind of a player I want in the dressing room."
