Carlisle's promotion hopes have been hit by the news captain Kevin Gray is set to be ruled out for three months. Scans on Gray's medial ligament injury have shown the damage to be worse than first thought.
Gray has to have a brace fitted for five weeks before undergoing a further six to seven weeks of rehabilitation.
Boss Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Cumbria: "It's a massive blow but I'm working hard to get two more players into the club before Boxing Day."
