Cardiff City fears ease over Kevin McNaughton injury
Cardiff's Kevin McNaughton receives treatment at Pride Park
Cardiff City's Kevin McNaughton has been released from hospital after being stretchered off in their 2-1 Championship win at Derby.
Medical staff put a brace on the 27-year-old defender's neck after an incident that caused a 14-minute delay shortly before the break.
He was taken to hospital but travelled home with the Bluebirds and will undergo more tests in the coming days.
Cardiff were without Jason Koumas at Pride Park due to illness.
Scotsman McNaughton's injury brought his 300th league game to a premature end.
He took a blow to the head in the 21st minute that rendered him motionless for a short period and an accidental clash of heads prompted his departure.
But a club spokesman later confirmed the player was well enough to travel home on the team bus.
Koumas arrived on loan from Premier League side Wigan last weekend having been hampered by injury last season.
Jones said: "Jason Koumas was ill. We wanted him to play 15 minutes the other day. He played 45-50 minutes and basically he's not played for four or five months.
"I think we just drained him and then he caught a little bit of a bug and that probably took it out of him.
"So it was not worth bringing him. He's got a free week now so we can work on him and hopefully get one or two more in."
