Notts County striker Lee Hughes struck twice two hand visiting Cardiff City a pre-season loss at Meadow Lane.
Bluebirds goalkeeper David Marshall gifted County the first, his miss-kick falling to Ben Burgess who played in team-mate Hughes for a simple opener.
Hughes struck again when Cardiff's Dan Drinkwater lost possession, allowing Burgess and Jon Harley to launch a swift counter and put the striker in.
Ross McCormack grabbed a fine Cardiff consolation, curling in from 22 yards.
