Rib injury set to sideline Cardiff's Stephen McPhail
McPhail had been out for three months as he received cancer treatment
Cardiff City fear that midfielder Stephen McPhail will be out for up to four weeks with two cracked ribs.
The Republic of Ireland player was rushed to hospital after suffering the injury in their 2-0 victory over Peterborough United on Tuesday.
McPhail, who has only recently returned to action following cancer treatment, missed Saturday's 4-1 FA Cup loss at Chelsea because of the injury.
"He [McPhail] has two cracked ribs," confirmed Cardiff manager Dave Jones.
"He has had a torrid time and will be out for three to four weeks."
Stand-in skipper McPhail was playing in only his second game back after three months out after being diagnosed with lymphoma in November.
He hobbled out of Tuesday's triumph after a challenge by Peterborough's Chris Whelpdale and was taken to hospital, placed on a drip and kept in overnight.
