Cardiff City suffer captain Mark Hudson injury blow

Dave Jones has been dealt another blow as Cardiff City captain Mark Hudson is set for up to three months out as the defender is to undergo ankle surgery.

The 27-year-old centre-back suffered ankle ligament damage and will add to Jones' Bluebirds lengthy injury list.

Defenders Kevin McNaughton (knee) and Paul Quinn (illness) are doubts for Saturday's visit of Doncaster Rovers.

Jones hoped to sign four new players in the January transfer window but has been told there is no money available.

Cardiff boss Jones wanted to bolster his Championship play-off hopefuls with squad reinforcements in January after the club raised an estimated £3m from a season ticket initiative.

Ridsdale had promised the season-ticket cash be spent on funding transfers but due to Cardiff's financial worries Ridsdale now insists the money will be spent on ensuring the club's survival.

Teenage midfielder Aaron Wildig (back) also faces a late fitness test ahead of Doncaster's trip to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Wildig's midfield colleague Joe Ledley is now out for the rest of the season as the Wales international will undergo surgery on Friday to ease his long-standing hip problem.
