Jones dismisses fresh clash fears

Cardiff boss Dave Jones has dismissed fears of another fiery clash when they host Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Jones and Palace manager Neil Warnock were sent off at half-time during that April encounter at Selhurst Park.

Cardiff's Roger Johnson - now at Birmingham - was elbowed out of the Bluebirds' 2-0 win by Claude Davis.

"Half my team probably won't even know what went on and the player that got injured [Johnson] isn't even here any more," said Jones.

"So nobody's thinking about it. Unless you'd [the media] mentioned it to me I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

"It's gone now. I'm not upset with the player [Davis], I'm not upset with the football club or other players or whatever so it's all done and dusted. It's gone.

"It's no good looking back and worrying about something otherwise you forget what you're actually doing now."

However, Jones expects an intense affair as fourth-placed Cardiff face a Palace side in 12th, but only four points behind.

"It doesn't normally settle down until after Christmas - we've always said that," he said.

"You've just got to stay within that pack and the inconsistency that this division has is dictated by when you look at the table.

"You win two games you're up there, you lose two and you're back down. It's just that type of league at this moment in time."

Before the recent break for internationals Cardiff reaffirmed their promotion hopes by hammering Derby 6-1 and triumphing 4-0 at Watford.

The Eagles picked up 10 points from a possible 12 and are unbeaten in their last three away games going into the clash at Cardiff City Stadium.
