No Cardiff transfer rift - Jones

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones says he wants three more players

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones denies that he has fallen out with chairman Peter Ridsdale over summer transfers.

There had been speculation that the pair have not been able to agree on transfer targets and potential sales of the Bluebirds' leading players.

"There's no rift with me and the chairman which was put out, there's nothing like that," Jones said.

"There's no problem. I know the parameters that I have to work with at this football club."

Cardiff have often had to sell their prize assets in order to strengthen the rest of the squad.

Jones says that while he remains unhappy at seeing his squad cherry-picked by richer clubs, he understands that it is sometimes the only way he can move the club forward.

There are three players that I feel that if we get can will make us a lot stronger

"I've said many times we don't want to lose our best players but sometimes due to circumstances that has to happen," Jones added.

"Am I happy about it? Of course I'm not, nobody in the football club is but I know that's the way we have to work.

"There are three players that I feel that if we get can will make us a lot stronger.

"We might have to lose one or two out the squad to get the three in.

"But I haven't said anything different to what I've been saying since the day I walked in this football club.

"Unfortunately because of the way we have to wheel and deal and... our outlook on wages... to get that little bit stronger and to try and make other positions stronger, we might have to sell a player."

Jones confirmed that they have still not had any offers this summer for Wales midfielder Joe Ledley, who has just a a year remaining on his Cardiff contract.

Striker Ross McCormack is also though to be on the shopping list of several Premier League clubs despite signing a new contract, while star defender Roger Johnson has already gone to Birmingham City for £5m.

Cardiff continue their pre-season programme on Wednesday night by welcoming Scottish giants Celtic to the Cardiff City Stadium.
