Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack is out of Tuesday's trip to fourth-place Burnley after picking up another hamstring injury.

The Bluebirds top scorer, with 14 league and cup goals, limped out of Saturday's 2-0 win over Preston.

"The last time he did it, he tried to run through it, but it wasn't going to happen," said Cardiff boss Dave Jones.

"We have to try and find out why the hamstring keeps going in that leg, but it's not the same injury."

Jones added: "There's an underlying problem there.

"He is still slightly feeling it, which is a good sign because it means he hasn't pulled it as bad as the first time."

McCormack, 22, spent three weeks out earlier this season after picking up a hamstring injury in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves.

He was due to have a scan on Monday to find out the cause of the problem.

Fifth-place Cardiff travel to Lancashire on a three game unbeaten but will come up against tough opposition in Burnley who have won their last three and are in the semi-final of the Carling Cup.

Jones is set to stick with Joe Ledley as captain in place of the suspended Stephen McPhail.

Cardiff-born Ledley, 21, says he was proud to lead his hometown team out in Saturday's win over Preston.

"It was a great honour to lead the boys out and be captain of Cardiff City," said Ledley.

"I think everyone in my family was proud and so was I.

"Burnley are a good team and you can tell. They are good on the break.

"If we can keep them quiet and play our own game, hopefully we can get the three points."
