Cardiff City's FA Cup heroes Peter Whittingham and Roger Johnson are set to sign new three-year contracts.

Club chairman Peter Ridsdale also told BBC Sport the Championship club has offered new two-year deals to Paul Parry and Glenn Loovens.

Goalkeeper Peter Enckelman has already agreed a new two-year deal while Riccy Scimeca has signed a one-year contract.

Ridsdale said: "We're confident that deals will be done and people want to be a part of a special future."

FA Cup finalists Cardiff rejected a �1m bid from Championship new boys Nottingham Forest for former England Under-21 international Whittingham last week.

Defender Johnson's impressive performances last season, particularly in the Bluebirds' march to Wembley, enhanced his reputation with Cardiff rejecting two �1m offers earlier this summer from Championship clubs for the 24-year-old.

Both winger Whittingham and centre-back Johnson are out of contract next season but signing improved deals at Ninian Park will certainly fend off interested admirers.

"Peter Whittingham has verbally agreed a new three year deal," revealed Ridsdale.

"We'll now put that into a contract and he'll sign in next few days. And we are also confident of doing a deal with Roger Johnson.

"We've also put offers to Glenn Loovens and Paul Parry and we hope everything goes well because they all were a part in our success last season.

"The manager Dave Jones has certainly endeared himself to the squad and they want to stay and play for him.

"The players understand that we're building something very special at Cardiff."

Centre-back Loovens and winger Parry also attracted interest but Ridsdale hopes the pair sign on at City.

Ridsdale also hopes for more positive news within the next week as the Cardiff chief expects to unveil new signings - preferably strikers.

Ridsdale confirmed Cardiff have not made a renewed and improved bid for Scotland striker Kris Boyd after Rangers rejected a club record �2.5m offer last week.

"The possibility of agreeing a deal for Kris is not dead but we are pursuing other targets at the moment," said Ridsdale.

"We have spoken to four clubs about players and we'll hopefully start bidding this week and maybe bring two new players to the club.

"We want to add the firepower that was missing last season and make a good push for promotion to the Premier League in our last season at Ninian Park.

"Dave showed a player of Champions League pedigree around the new stadium and our training facilities at the Vale of Glamorgan on Saturday and he was extremely impressed.

"That's how much this club has moved forward in the last 12 months.

"Last summer we were showing prospective signings around temporary training facilities and drawings of a new stadium.

"Then we were selling a dream but now we have something to show for it."
