Parry plans to prove Cup fitness

Paul Parry
Parry wants to play against Barnsley after six games out

Striker Paul Parry hopes to play in Cardiff City's final game of the season against Barnsley on Sunday and rescue his dream of a Cup final appearance.

He has been sidelined for six games with injury and had to sit out the club's epic semi-final victory over the same club.

But in a final bid to make the Wembley team he hopes he can prove his fitness this weekend to manager Dave Jones.

"I've got to give everything I've got to be in that starting 11," he said.

"It's every boy's dream to be in a major Cup Final and hopefully I'll play on Sunday at some point".

"It's so disappointing not be involved in that semi-final. When they got through to the final I just said to myself I've got to get there.

"I need to get some match fitness back and I'll give it my all to be the manager's plans."

There may be no promotion or relegation issue at stake on the back of the match but Parry insists Sunday will be a big day for all the Cardiff players.

"Everyone's going to want to play in the final so they've got to stake their claims as well as me," he explained.

"It's not just the final league game but perhaps the final thoughts for the manager to see who he wants to play in that final."
