Peter Whittingham opened the scoring for the Bluebirds at Boro |
Cardiff City goal hero Peter Whittingham says they can go on to win the FA Cup following their stunning quarter-final 2-0 win at Middlesbrough. The midfielder scored the opener at the Riverside as Championship side Cardiff shocked their Premier League hosts.
Cardiff were drawn against Barnsley on Monday, with Portsmouth facing West Brom in the other semi-final.
"I don't see why we can't win the competition, there are only two games left," said Whittingham.
"We controlled the game and showed we're Premiership class."

Whittingham says the achievement of reaching the semi-finals for the first time in 81 years - Cardiff went on to win the FA Cup in 1927 - is a huge fillip for their fans and everyone involved at the club.
Added excitement is that both semi-finals will be held at Wembley, which will then host the final
He said: "It's brilliant for us. I thought we were brilliant against Middlesbrough.
"It was a great day for everyone on the pitch and everything surrounding Cardiff and we just can't wait to see who we've got."
He was also delighted with the goal that put the Bluebirds on the path to glory.
"It felt amazing just to see it hit the net and it was a really good occasion for me and I'm just happy for the lads," said Whittingham.
"I don't think Middlesbrough can have any qualms with what happened. I thought we controlled the game and I don't think anyone could have said anything if we'd scored more goals.
"The lads are absolutely buzzing. They couldn't believe it and we're really happy we're going to Wembley."
