More players could go - Ridsdale
Peter Ridsdale
Cardiff could face more departures in the January transfer window
Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale is refusing to rule out more sales after the club agreed to sell defender Chris Gunter to Tottenham for up to 3m.

He told BBC Radio Wales the pending court case with Langston is making it more difficult to reject offers.

"It has exacerbated the financial position and we're more likely to say yes than no to the right bid," he said.

It has also been reported winger Joe Ledley turned down a 2.5m move to Wolves earlier this week.

Four other players, Steve Thompson, Paul Parry, Tony Capaldi and Aaron Ramsey have also reportedly been the subject of failed bids.

And Ridsdale said: "I can't hypothesise whether somebody is going to come in with big bids for players.

"We have had a big bid for one player this week and that player said he wants to stay with Cardiff City, which I am delighted about, so we've said no.

"My job is to balance the finances but not to cave in every time someone comes in with an offer for any of our players.

"It's regrettably one of the facts of life of Championship football is everybody is for sale. The only question is the price."

There's no doubt that without the court case, it would have been far easier to stand firm

But Ridsdale said the cash-strapped Bluebirds will attempt to bring in new faces in the January transfer window if manager Dave Jones wants them.

He added: "What we have to do is to make sure if we lose players we then cover that position to make sure the team is good enough to compete at the top of the Championship.

"Clearly the first half of the season has been disappointing, but what we want to do in January is mix it up a bit.

"Dave Jones has always been supported in the transfer market. If he wants this player or that player, we will do our best to acquire them.

"I would expect to see people come in as well as go out, but this isn't a fire sale. Nobody is leaving this football club unless there's an offer we cannot refuse.

"I think in Chris's (Gunter) case, the bid was of the magnitude that we had to say yes and also the player himself said it was a club he wanted to go to.

"There's no doubt that without the court case, it would have been far easier to stand firm, but even so it is a good bid from a big club."
