Dave Jones will bring in a new striker to the club |
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has vowed to continue to search for a new striker after his misfiring frontmen again hit blanks on Tuesday night. The Bluebirds had to rely on defender Roger Johnson to see off Brighton in the first round of the Carling Cup.
And after another game in which his strikers failed to score, Jones knows he needs to add to that area.
"Things aren't happening for us in front of goal, and we know we have to add to that department," said Jones.

"Some of the rotation we do in midfield is fantastic, it is good movement and we pass it well. We have two departments working well and we have to get the third department - up front - sorted.
"When we get it up there we are not firing and although I can't fault the lads that played up there, we are still looking for another striker as we are short in that department."
Jones admits that the club have moved to bring players in but have been unable to get the right player to the club.
Cardiff City did try and land Newcastle striker Andy Carroll, but the 18-year-old chose to join Preston North End on loan.
Jones said: "Because Robbie is not fit we are relying on young Matt Green, and we know he is not ready yet, we have said that he needs more games but we will have to bide our time until the right player becomes available.
"We tried for the boy at Newcastle but he eventually went to Preston, he didn't even want to talk to us and wanted to go there.
"The problem is when people know that you are looking for a certain type of striker then the price goes up, but we haven't got a lot of money to spend, despite what they may think, and we won't pay over the odds."
And Jones says that the latest off the field problems to rock Cardiff City won't affect his plans to sign new players.
Cardiff City's main financial backers have initiated legal proceedings against the club over claims they have not repaid more than 30m in debts.

Law firm Hextalls LLP, acting on behalf of Cardiff backers Langston, have accused the club's board of mismanaging their finances.
"I did have a word with the Chairman and he told me not to worry," said Jones.
"It won't affect football matters and is up the hierarchy to sort out."
