Triallist Costas Charalambides advanced his claims for a contract with Cardiff City by scoring a fine goal in a 2-1 pre-season win against a Portugese XI. The Cyprus international fired home a 30-yard rocket that went in off a post.
However, Cardiff's recent signing of Trevor Sinclair, who also plays right midfield, does make it trickier for Charalambides to earn a deal.
Teenager Matt Green also impressed with the other goal, but Kevin McNaughton was unlucky to score an own goal.
The Bluebirds included a number of other trialists, including Greek goalkeeper Kleopas Giannou from Olympiakos and Portuguese defender Marco Almeido.
Cardiff: K Giannou (R Oliveira 70), C Gunter (K McNaughton 45), R Johnson (G Loovens 45), M Almeida (D Purse 65), T Capaldi, C Charalambides (K Cooper 65), D Blake (S McPhail 45), A Ramsey (G Rae 45), J Ledley (P Parry 45), J Byrne (M Green), W Feeney (S MacLean).
