Cardiff get Ninian standing boost
Fans can continue to use the standing areas at Ninian Park
Fans can continue to use the standing areas at Ninian Park
Cardiff City have been given permission to continue to allow fans to use standing areas at Ninian Park.

Clubs in the Championship can apply for an exemption for the standing license for a period of up to three years.

But this is the first time the Football Licensing Authority has extended the period beyond that time frame.

The major factor in the decision was the green light for the Bluebirds' new stadium project, with construction begun on the site at Leckwith.

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale said: ''We are delighted to have secured the extension for standing.

"This will allow us to concentrate on the new stadium and the playing side.

"If the decision had not gone in our favour, it would have had major financial implications, both in terms of new seat installation and the reduction in our overall capacity."
