Michael Chopra's goal exploits could earn a better Cardiff contract

A clause in the 22-year-old striker's current deal has been activated because he has reached a 20-goal target and he is now entitled to improved terms.

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale said: "When Michael Chopra's original contract was drawn up we felt 20 goals would be a tall order.

"But Michael has done exceptionally well for us."

Following his double in last Friday's 4-1 Championship victory over Preston, Chopra now has 21 goals for the season.

The striker rejected an offer to stay at Newcastle in favour of joining the Bluebirds in the summer in a �500,000 move, signing a contract with the Ninian Park outfit until the end of the 2008-09 campaign.

Meanwhile, Cardiff winger Luigi Glombard has returned to Ninian Park following a month-long loan spell with Championship rivals Leicester.

The 22-year-old joined the Foxes on transfer deadline day at the end of January but made just one appearance for Rob Kelly's side - as a 83rd-minute substitute in the 2-0 win at Ipswich on February 10.
