Cox has failed to hold down a regular place this season |
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has released veteran defender Neil Cox. The 34-year-old joined the Bluebirds as a free agent from Watford last July, but has failed to hold down a regular first-team place.
Cox played 21 league games for the Bluebirds, scoring two goals, and also started the 2-1 FA Cup loss at Arsenal.
The versatile defender's departure is likely to be the first of several personnel changes at Ninian Park, with Jones poised for a summer clear-out.
Martyn Margetson, Willie Boland, Phil Mulryne and Jermaine Darlington have also been released, while Guylain N'Dumbu-N'Sungu has joined Gillingham.
Youngsters Byron Anthony, Jon Kift, Nicky Fish, Danny Parslow, Anthony Taylor, Lee Worgan, Lloyd Jenkins and Tarek Khalil are also on their way out of Ninian Park.
