Ndumbu-Nsungu has scored five in his last five games |
Cardiff City have signed Darlington's DR Congo-born striker Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu on a free transfer. The 23-year-old's short-term contract at the Quakers is up and he turned down a new deal to join the Bluebirds to the end of the season.
The Congolese has scored 11 times this season, with five in five games.
Cardiff have failed to sign on-loan Feyenoord defender Glenn Loovens on a permanent contract, though, after their bid was turned down by the Dutch club.
"He's still with us for six months, so we have a bit of time to try to arrange a permanent move," said Cardiff manager Dave Jones.
Loovens picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-1 loss at Arsenal that will keep him out for several weeks.
Ndumbu-Nsungu's signature is a valuable one for the Bluebirds, with Alan Lee expected to move to Ipswich and the club having failed to extend Michael Ricketts' loan from Leeds.
A host of clubs have also been linked with teenage strike star Cameron Jerome, although Scottish international Steven Thompson is expected to join the Bluebirds from Rangers if he can agree personal terms.
Ndumbu-Nsungu began his career at French club Amiens before joining Sheffield Wednesday in September 2003.
He has since had spells at Preston and Colchester before linking up with Darlington last August.
"The boy has something and this is an opportunity for the kid and for us," said Jones.
"I may have to move five players out to bring three in, but hopefully there will be bigger names to come into the club."
