Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder is running the rule over Cambridge United defender Michael Morrison. Morrison, 18, has been training with the Premiership club and is due to take part in a trial game this weekend.
"I will know after that if they want to take it further. If not, he's been asked to go to another Premiership club for them to look at him," boss Rob Newman told the U's website.
Morrison has previously spent time training at both Everton and Preston.
