Steve Thompson took over from Herve Renard last year |
Cambridge manager Steve Thompson has left the club following their relegation from the Football League. Thompson, who joined Cambridge at the end of December, joins four others in being made redundant as part of the club's cost-cutting measures.
Goalkeeping coach Ali Uzunhasanoglu, youth coach Kit Carson and two administrative staff have also left.
Assistant coach Rob Newman will take over the running of first-team affairs on a caretaker basis.
Cambridge finished bottom of Coca-Cola League Two, 14 points from safety, and have filed for administration.
Joint administrator Ian Carr said: "It is always regrettable to have to make redundancies.
"However, we need to reduce costs wherever possible to give the club the best chance of survival.
"Even if no administration had been necessary, the reduction of costs would have been essential due to the club's relegation to the Conference, where revenues will be lower."
