Riza scored 17 times for Cambridge last term |
Former Cambridge striker Omer Riza has signed for Turkish club Denizlispor. Riza, who came through the ranks at Arsenal and also had a spell with West Ham, has signed a two-year contract with the top-flight Turkish side, with an option for a further year.
The 23-year-old was released by Cambridge at the end of last season and has been training with Denizlispor since the end of June.
Josh Riza, Omer's agent and father, said: "He is looking forward to the challenge.
"What he needs to do is play football and, having not reached the highest level in England, he has looked elsewhere."
Riza scored 17 goals for Cambridge last season, while Denizlispor finished 10th in the Turkish league and reached the Uefa Cup fourth round, losing 8-3 on aggregate to eventual winners Porto.
