Bury confirm receiving approach for manager Alan Knill
Knill made 150 appearances for Scunthorpe between 1993 and 1997
Bury have told BBC Radio Manchester they have received an approach from an unnamed club for manager Alan Knill, who has been linked to Scunthorpe.
The Shakers have not said whether they would allow the former Iron defender, 46, to talk to the club in question.
The Bury manager hinted he could be set for Scunthorpe following his side's draw with Port Vale on Saturday.
He said: "It's flattering as they're a Championship team and there are eight games left to stay in it."
He added: "Unfortunately, sometimes opportunities come along and you have to make decisions that aren't easy or popular."
Knill, who has been in charge at Gigg Lane since February 2008, added: "Right now I've got eight games left to have a great season with my players here.
"I obviously hear a lot of talk but right now I'm Bury's manager and happy to be Bury's manager and if that changes, it changes."
Knill's Shakers currently sit in fourth place in League Two and have been amongst the promotion chasers all season but have stumbled lately, taking just two points from their last four matches.
The former Rotherham manager concluded: "I don't think you can rule anything out in football, there is nothing that surprises anybody anymore.
"If I'm going to be totally honest I haven't got a clue and we'll have to wait and see."
Scunthorpe are 23rd in the Championship, five points adrift of safety with eight games remaining, and have been without a manager since Ian Baraclough was sacked earlier this month.
