Sodje will be player-coach for Bury next season

Bury's new signing Efe Sodje believes the club can reach the League Two play-offs this season.

But the defender, 35, who joined the club from Gillingham last week, admits automatic promotion will be difficult.

He told BBC Radio Manchester: "I think we have got enough quality in the players in the changing room now to go for the play-offs.

"We can't say we are going to go for promotion because they [the club] have to put money in."

Sodje made 16 appearances for Bury last season on loan from Gillingham and is now returning to Gigg Lane as a player-coach.

He said: "I'm delighted, I've got my office already. I enjoyed it last season and now I'm going to enjoy it this time.

"Obviously I did a good job, that's why the manager wants me to come back and I want to try and improve on that."
