Chris Brass aims to use the experience he gained as manager of York City to his advantage now he is in caretaker charge of League Two strugglers Bury. Brass opened his Bury account with a 2-1 FA Cup upset over Championship side Norwich on Tuesday, after Chris Casper and Keith Alexander were sacked.
He said: "There's no suggestion how long I'll be in the hot seat for, probably on an hour to hour basis."
Brass was the youngest league manager for 50 years when in charge at York.
After winning his first four league games at York, the club's form went rapidly downhill, resulting in relegation to the Conference in 2004. He was sacked after a poor start to the following season.
He said "I was full of enthusiasm, but caught in the headlights at times. It still hurts a little bit."
While delighted with the FA Cup upset over Norwich, Brass knows he will be judged on results in the league, starting with Saturday's game at home to Stockport.
"What I've got to do at the moment is stabilise the club. It's going to be tough, but we've got to get the stability. We've got to take what we did on Tuesday into the league."
