Alexander parted company with Peterborough in January |
Bury have appointed former Lincoln City and Peterborough boss Keith Alexander as their new director of football. Alexander will work closely with first-team boss Chris Casper.
"The experience Keith has can only be of benefit to Chris and will make him a better manager," director Ian Harrop told Bury's website.
Alexander left Lincoln to take charge of Posh in May last year but despite signing a four-year deal, he lasted just seven-and-a-half months.
Meanwhile, Casper has offered seven of his existing players new contracts and released half a dozen more following Bury's struggle to stay in League Two.
Alan Fettis, Tom Kennedy, John Fitzgerald, Matthew Tipton, Tom Youngs and Damian Quigley have been released, while Chris Brass has been invited back for pre-season to prove his fitness following surgery.
New contracts have been offered to Colin Woodthorpe, Nicky Adams, David Buchanan, Marc Pugh, Andy Warrington, Andy Parrish and Aaron Grundy.
