Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido is hopeful that top scorer Shaun Harrad will sign a new deal.
The 25-year-old striker, who has scored nine goals so far this season, is out of contract in the summer and talks on a new deal have stalled.
But Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby: "He's keen to stay and if we can come to an agreement, he'd be happy to stay.
"I'm hoping he goes back to his agent and we can sit down before January and maybe tie something up."
