Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido spoke of his relief after seeing his side edge out Rochdale 1-0 courtesy of Richard Walker's deflected shot.
Peschisolido said: "We have played some good stuff but the realism was that we had not won a game in five attempts so an early goal does settle the nerves.
"I am delighted because we have had a few games where we have played well but haven't got the results we deserved.
"A win breeds confidence and does you the world of good."
The win moves the Brewers up to 12th spot in the table and Peschisolido believes they have made a promising start to life in League Two.
"We have shown that we are a decent side at this level," he said.
"We have got some big hearts and a lot of desire out there and we have also got some good ability.
"I still maintain that it is about staying in the division but so far I am delighted with the way that it has gone and we are certainly holding our own.
"It would be nice if we could string a run of wins together because we have seen what this league is like - three wins and you find yourselves at the top end of the table."
