Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido has signed former Derby County defender Paul Boertien on a one-year contract.
Boertien, 30, was released by Walsall at the end of last season and he is Peschisolido's first signing since taking over as Brewers boss in May.
He started his League career at Carlisle United before moving to the Rams in March 1999, where he spent eight years.
Boertien has also had loan spells with Crewe, Chesterfield and Notts County.
