Burnley to step up striker search after Thompson injury
Thompson joined Burnley from Cardiff City in September 2008
Burnley boss Eddie Howe says he aims to sign a striker on loan after losing Steven Thompson for up to six weeks.
Thompson, 32, has undergone surgery after his groin became infected and joins fellow striker Martin Paterson on the sidelines.
Manager Eddie Howe told BBC Radio Lancashire: "We're looking at the loan market - the difficulty is no-one wants to let their strikers go.
"We're doing a little bit of homework - we'll wait and see." added Howe.
Paterson could miss the rest of the campaign after suffering a recurrence of a thigh injury. It leaves Burnley depleted in attack with just Jay Rodriguez, Chris Iwelumo and Charlie Austin to choose from.
However, Howe is staying positive: "We're under no immediate pressure, we've got people who can play in different positions - we're hopeful we can get him [Steven] back before the end of the season."
