Burnley fans will get the chance to see David Nugent for the first time

Burnley have set up a friendly at Turf Moor against Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night to help out their hard-up Lancashire neighbours.

Clarets boss Owen Coyle suggested the game to help Stanley raise the £308,000 needed to avoid being closed down in less than eight weeks' time.

"Burnley have had hard times in the past," said Coyle, "so we want to do what we can to keep Accrington going."

New signing David Nugent is set to make his first appearance for Burnley.

Coyle is also expected to take the chance to draft in another of his transfer window signings, Ecuador midfielder Fernando Guerrero.

And he will play some of his senior squad, who have not been used much in the Clarets' exciting first few weeks of their first season in Premier League football.

"I will be putting out a strong team," Coyle told the club's website. "It will be a chance for the fans to see 90 minutes for Fernando Guerrero and also first-team players like Chris Eagles and David Nugent.

"The more Burnley fans who come the better because it's a fantastic cause, and that's why we have priced it reasonably."

Admission will be £10 for adults (£5 concessions).

The game is still to be ratified by the Premier League but Burnley hope to receive confirmation that it can go ahead on Monday.

Football has been staged at Accrington since 1888, when Burnley were one of the 12 founder members of the Football League.

But, following their resignation from the League in 1962, they have only been back as one of the 92 clubs since 2006.

Accrington chief executive Rob Heys admits that, with £308,000 owed to HM Customs & Excise, it is a generous gesture from their newly-promoted Premier League neighbours.

"It's fantastic that a club that have made it into the Premier League and are a long way away from the football scale that we're in have shown that they remember their local neighbours and we're very grateful for that," he said.
