Celtic made a �500,000 bid for Lafferty last January

Celtic are still pursuing interest in Burnley's �3m-rated Northern Ireland international striker Kyle Lafferty.

However, Celtic coach Tommy Burns has said that Tuesday's on-loan signing of Manchester City's Georgios Samaras could scupper a move for Lafferty.

"I would think if we can't get Kyle Lafferty now, we would try to get him in the summer or whenever the opportunity comes," Burns said.

"But if Samaras does really well there might not be any need to get Kyle."

Rangers fan Lafferty is believed to be keen on a move to Celtic Park.

The 20-year-old, who was the subject of a �500,000 bid by Celtic last January, signed a new contract in March which ties him to Turf Moor until 2010.

However, Celtic are hoping to sign Lafferty before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
