O'Connor is desperate to get regular first-team football |
Burnley have signed West Bromich Albion midfielder James O'Connor for 175,000. O'Connor, 25, made 13 appearances for the Clarets during a loan spell earlier this season and has joined on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
And boss Steve Cotterill is thrilled to see him return: "He'll be popular with the supporters because they saw what he gave us earlier in the season."
O'Connor said: "I'm delighted to come back. It was a great spell earlier in the season."
The Baggies will also receive a further 75,000 should the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international help the Clarets win promotion.
O'Connor added: "It went really well and has obviously played a big part in me coming here now.
"Hopefully we can kick on and and try to get into the play-offs. I've kept an eye on things and have kept in touch with one or two of the players."
O'Connor admits he had to leave the Hawthorns after failing to gain a regular first-team spot.
"I just felt as if I hadn't really been given a chance at West Brom this season and that's the disappointing thing.
"You feel you warrant a chance so it's just a case of coming here and being able to play football and resurrect my career."
