O'Connor has been out of favour at the Hawthorns this season |
Burnley have signed West Bromwich Albion midfielder James O'Connor on a month's loan. The move had been agreed by former Baggies manager Gary Megson on Monday - but at the request of the Lancashire club, the news was held back.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, now 25, could make his debut against QPR on Saturday.
However, he will not be eligible for their Carling Cup tie with Tottenham as he is already cup-tied with Albion.
That 16-minute substitute appearance - in the 2-1 defeat at Colchester - has been the ex-Stoke man's only first-team outing this season. Clarets boss Steve Cotterill, who was previously O'Connor's manager at Stoke, said: "He brings a lot of energy to the team and is a great player.
"He will give 100% every time and there won't be a player who outruns him all season. I would sign him permanently tomorrow if I could."
